From the Bronx to the Battery
Division 5 is the managing authority for
5 New York City based flotillas. Its flotillas cover New York
City from the southern most tip of Manhattan, the Battery, through the
northern most Borough of Manhattan Island, the Bronx. The
Division resides in the First District, Southern Region, which serves
the tri-state area.
Division 5's Area of Responsibility in the waters surrounding Manhattan and the Bronx include:
- The Hudson River, bounded to the north by the Tappen Zee Bridge to the Intrepid Museum
- New York Harbor, south of the Intrepid and the East River South of Roosevelt Island where it shares responsibility for this zone with Divisions 10, 11, 12 and 14
- North-Western Long Island Sound, bounded to the east by Execution Rocks and to the west by the Throgs Neck Bridge
- The East River and its approaches bounded by the Throgs
Neck Bridge including:
The Harlem River, Hell Gate, Middle Ground, Rikers Island Channel, Bowery Bay, Flushing Bay, Bronx River, Westchester Creek, Little Neck Bay, and Stepping Stones
