Volunteer for Fleet Week: The Coast Guard Needs You Now

From Art Kramer, RCO-Sector New York:

Fleet Week is only a few short weeks away and plans are coming together rapidly. Most of the broad strokes are in place. It is now time to fill in the details.

Our two most important venues at Fleet Week will be Pier 88 in Manhattan and the Homeport on Staten Island. The Auxiliary will be displaying at both locations. What I need at the moment is a specific commitment for bodies at specific times. In a previous email, I attached an Excel spread sheet with the times that we need people. That is now out the window. The hours have changed. Exhibit hours on all days are from 0800 to 1700. This will be split into two shifts: 0800 - 1230 and 1230 - 1700.

Pier 88 Manhattan:
The booth will be set up on Tuesday afternoon, May 20.
No personnel on Wednesday, May 21. Pier will be locked down.
Thursday, May 22 - 0800 - 1700
Friday, May 23 - 0800 - 1700
Saturday, May 24 - 0800 - 1700 (Booth must be removed at close of show on Saturday).
Sunday, May 25 - NO SHOW. Ships arriving. Booth to be set back up late Sunday afternoon.
Monday, May 26 - 0800 - 1700
Tuesday, May 27 - 0800 - 1700 (As this will be the first work day following the holiday weekend, consideration is being given to terminating the exhibit after close of show on Monday. More to follow on this.

Staten Island Home Port:
Set up Wednesday, May 21.
Thursday, May 22 through Tuesday, May 27 - Everyday 0800-1700.
Plenty of hands at each of the shifts means plenty of spare time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Fleet Week. The more the merrier.
